Walking is great way to get about the Dales especially if you want to get away from the road network and up onto the fells. One of the best options is to leave your car at one of the recognised and managed car parks, take a bus or train out and then to walk back.

In this section we provide a brief introduction to the many walking options in this area.  You will find details of long distance routes, information about a number of guided walks that are well linked to public transport and some suggestions for routes that can be accessed using public transport.

A selection of walking maps and guide books is available from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authoirty Online Shop.  Click here    YDNPA Online Shop
