Ticket types

A number of special tickets are available to help you explore the region by train. Below are just a few:

Freedom of Settle & Carlisle Line 4 in 8 Day Flexi Rover

Travel on four days in eight, anywhere between Leeds, Settle and Carlisle and intermediate stations.  The ticket costs £44 for adults and £22 for children and railcard discounts are also available.

This ticket is valid after 08:45 Monday to Friday and any time at weekends and bank holidays. It provides a great opportunity to stay in the area and explore not only the wonderful countryside but also the towns and villages surrounding the line.

Settle-Carlisle Day Ranger

This is a one day ticket which provides unlimited travel for one day  travelling between Settle and Carlisle and intermediate stations. The ticket is valid after 08:45 Monday to Friday and any time at weekends and bank holidays and costs £25 for adults and £12.50 for children.  Railcard discounts are also available.

North East Round Robin

This ticket allows a circular journey over the scenic Settle-Carlisle, Carlisle-Newcastle, Newcastle-York and York-Leeds lines. It offers superb value when compared with single tickets and is valid after 08:45 Monday to Friday and any time at weekends and bank holidays. Tickets are however not valid on Saturdays in July and August.

The ticket costs £39.00 for adults and £19.50 for children. Railcard discounts are also available.

Other Offers and Railcard Information

There is a local user railcard scheme - the Dales Railcard. This costs £10 and can be purchased by residents in the postcode areas adjacent to the Settle-Carlisle and Skipton-Lancaster lines. The ticket entitles holders to one third discount on fares and permits up to four accompanying children to travel at discounted child fares. The Dales Railcard scheme is also available to members of The Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line. The "Friends Gold Card" provides members with 1/3rd off travel from Leeds-Carlisle, Leeds-Morecambe and Brampton and Wetheral, as well as special offers.  It costs just £12 per year on top of Friends membership, which costs from just £10 (£3 for under 18s).  To join and obtain a "Gold Card", either:
