The Yorkshire Dales provide fabulous cycling opportunities from gentle routes in the valleys to some challenging climbs over the moorland that separates them. From the wild and remote northern dales to the rolling farmland in the east, the cycling is always memorable for the fantastic scenery and beautiful villages.

We've now developed two fantastic cycling websites, where you'll find everything you need to know about cycling opportunties in the Yorkshire Dales.

There are over 800km of bridleways, byways and green lanes in the Yorkshire Dales which can be linked in countless ways to provide some superb mountain biking adventures. 

Visit for up-to-date route information and suggestions, maps, route reviews and riding tips, details of the new Pennine Bridleway which is being developed across the area and a whole load of useful links to accommodation providers and bike shops.

Bus Services with Bike-Carrying Facilities

A bike-carrying facility is available on Malham Tarn Shuttle service 809, running on Summer Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays between Ilkley, Skipton, Settle, Malham Tarn and Malham. For further details contact the operator - Jackson's of Silsden - on 01535 652376.

Bike-carrying facilities on a local bus service

A free bike-carrying facility (up to 3 bicycles per journey) is also available on Nidderdale Rambler services 25 and 26. These operate on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, linking Harrogate and Pateley Bridge with Lofthouse, How Stean Gorge, Middlesmoor and Brimham Rocks. A maximum of 3 mountain bikes can be carried in the rear of the bus and these will be accommodated wherever possible. Note: cyclists on the 10.10 departure from Harrogate must not board at Harrogate Bus Station, please use the Memorial stop instead. Bicycles are carried at the owner's risk.
